“Jazzeando”, composé du percussioniste français Emmanuel Simon, du pianiste indien Pradyumna Singh Manot et de la chanteuse américaine Megan Powers, est un trio latin-jazz plein d’énergie qui mélange les influences et les inspirations musicales. Du swing à la salsa, de balades émouvantes en rumbas déchainées, laissez vous emmener pour  un beau voyage entre jazz et musique latine !

”Jazzeando” is a intimate and energetic Latin-jazz trio blending influences and exploring musical boundaries, and taking its audience from swing to salsa, from soulful ballads to wild rumba, from the elaborate harmony of jazz to the ecstatic and earthly rhythms of Latin music.

Emmanuel Simon (Percussion)

Emmanuel Simon is a versatile musician from Paris, France, acting in Jazz, Latin-American, World, Fusion, and other Western modern music fields as well as composing for theatre and short-films. Initially trained as a Western classical pianist, he has completed his academic degrees in Western musicology, Western classical and modern music. He has also graduated a M.A. degree of Instrumental Music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, as a Gold Medalist and now attending a Ph.D. on Bengali folk percussion. He is nowadays a multi-talented percussionist, having wide knowledge in various musical cultures such as Western, West African, Afro-Cuban and Indian percussion, getting taalim from the tabla virtuoso Pandit Shankar Ghosh. Regarding Latin music, Emmanuel has specialized in many kinds of Afro-Cuban percussion and learned in different academies of music in France from various Latin masters such as Abraham Mansfaroll, Fred ”El Pulpo” Savinien, Carlos ”Kutimba” Esposito, Simon Ville, etc. He has performed with many veteran artists of Latin music such as Franklin Lozada, Cuchy Almeida, Luis Viloria, Sebastian Jimenez, Martin Fuenmayor, Carlos Miguel, etc. He is also the band leader of The Latination.

He has been performing in Europe and South Asia, collaborating with many different artists. In India he has performed in prestigious auditoriums (such as Kamani Auditorium (Delhi), Chowdia Hall (Bangalore), Birla Sabhaghar (Calcutta), Blue Frog (Delhi), etc.) and in prestigious festivals such as World Percussion Festival (Nehru Park, Delhi), Kolkata Jazz festival, Bengaluru International Arts Festival, Calcutta International Dance Fiesta, etc. His music through his compositions has been broadcasted on different TV channels (USA, Japan, Europe) and various short films festival all across the world (USA, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Russia, Europe).

Pradyumna Singh Manot a.k.a. Paddy (Piano)

Paddy is one of India’s most talented jazzmen and piano players. He started his life in music on the piano at the age of six. Since that time he has been extensively studying Western Classical, Jazz (with Madhav Chari), Latin, Latin jazz and North Indian classical music. He has performed in many prestigious venues and festivals across India and has been a regular artist of the Congo Square Jazz festival for past 8 years. Abroad he has also performed in Hong Kong, Indonesia, UAE, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Macau, Bangladesh and has performed in the World’s biggest jazz festival, the Java Jazz Festival where he received accolades form great names of jazz including George Benson, Roy Hargrove and Joey de Franscesco. He has performed with many Jazz artists such as American Jazz Singer Claire Michaud, Canadian Trombonist Alistair Kay (Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, etc.), star bassist Steve Zerlin, Alex Stuart and Indian guitar legend Sumith Ramachandran, among others. Paddy is also a founder member of the Latin-jazz bands Los Amigos and The Latination.

Pradyumna has given many concerts with Indian musicians such as Grammy winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Ustad Rashid Khan, Ustad Sabir Khan, Pandit Vikku Vinayakram, Ustad Taufique Quereshi, Ustad Shujaat Khan, Ustad Raza Ali Khan, Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya, among others. Pradyumna has worked with many dancers across different dance forms. He has toured and performed with the world famous tap dancer Jason Samuel Smith and world famous kathak maestro Pandit Chitresh Das. He is also closely associated with Salsa company “Mambo City”.

Megan Powers (Vocals)

Megan Powers is a singer-songwriter based in New York City.  Her jazz career found its start in Igor Butman’s iconic Moscow jazz haunt in an impromptu jam session with Igor and his band. She is honored to have taken the stage in some of NYC’s most notable underground music havens, and to have sung with the likes of Igor, Jon Christopher Allen, Ben Paterson, the Anthony Cekay Trio, Henry Colle, Drue Barron, Marissa Dwyer, and Paul Beaubrun of Zing Experience, among others. She has also performed with Andrea Burns and Michael Arden in Stephen Weiner’s original staging of The Hudsucker Proxy.

Megan has studied classically with dramatic soprano Corinne Stevens and with NYC’s Broadway great, Phillip Hernandez. Her amazing timber, powerful voice, soulful interpretation of jazz standards of any kind as well as her ever steady musical abilities have made be part of New York’s new most promising talents and singers.

A passionate proponent of the human capacity to effect healing through the cultivation of mindfulness, compassion, and creative self-expression, Megan graduated from the University of Oklahoma with degrees in International Relations, Spanish, and Russian, and has worked within the anti-trafficking movement in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia and Kolkata, India. Most recently, Megan has returned in Kolkata as a volunteer with the Kalighat-based non-profit, New Light, that works to support those affected by human trafficking.
