Lead by bass player and composer Emmanuel de Gouvello, MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT was established in 1986 near Montpellier (south of France). MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT’s music mixes various influences: the Mediterranean temper of its members, some traditional melodies, an attraction for the East, a rock energy and a certain sense of humor.
MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT is made for the stage: their music is alive, based on the pleasure of live music and the complicity with the audience.
MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT has toured in various countries including India in 2006. That time, a first collaboration with tablas maestro BICKRAM GHOSH gave birth to an album released with Saregama.
10 years later, Mezcal and Bickram renew the experience with an all new tour and maybe a new album.
