On the 8th of March 2019, Alliance Française de Chandigarh joined the effort to promote gender equality and support women’s rights by celebrating International Women’s Day.
We started off with a discussion with Ms Supreet Dhiman, who shared with us stories which laid bare the innocence of the young and the vulnerabilities of the adults. She discussed about her research on Incest which led her creating a platform which raises awareness on incest abuse and gives support to everyone affected by it.
Following her talk, we screened the oscar-winning documentary directed by Rayka Zehtabchi: Period. End of Sentence, which showed us a positive change in India against the stigma of menstruation.
We would like to thank our guest, Ms Supreet Dhiman, for speaking up against the taboo of incest, and we thank everyone else who came and participated to this event with us.
