Vishu Arora created a series of artworks for the show “पुनः yet again,” which reimagines the traditional lifestyles to uphold society’s social pillar and foster relationships that feed the mind and spirit. The artworks in this series embody the visual components of indigenous India wisdom and support a social foundation that is sustainable.
Cotton fibre, newspaper, yarn, cloth, and sugarcane bagasse are all recycled during the creation of the artworks to create handcrafted parchment. These sheets are coloured and textured with natural colours and flora. The handcrafted sheets with abstract compositions based on themes are a visual depiction of sustainable practices that support the close-knit social structure. These pieces of art pay homage to the imaginative and environmentally conscious customs of India, which included hand embroidery done in groups, recycling, needlework, and the use of natural colours. Due to the organic nature of each component, these works of art are entirely biodegradable in the wild. Since the frames are reusable, these artworks are essentially zerowaste and long-lasting—as long as they are preserved well. The exhibition emphasises sustainability in addition to aesthetics.
