Manik Kohli (Guitar)

Manik a Harvard world record holder started his career at the age of 4 with the blessing of his father Shri Sanjeev Kohli (who is a well renowned guitar player in tricity). Manik stepped into Music as a drummer. In his initial childhood days, he has won several acclaimed titles on local and national level. Manik has done his graduation from RAMJAS College, Delhi University, Delhi and masters from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Manik has won several achievements like –

  • Harvard world record for achieving the title of the youngest Indian who modified the Spanish guitar to play like sitar.
  • National Balshree award in tricity
  • First in dainik bhaskar “National talent hunt” competition held in 2016
  • First in Delhi University in Indian classical music and second in light classical music
  • First in PEC fest competition
  • Third in Akhil Bhartiya Sangeet Pratiyogita

Projects and Compositions-

  • Performed in front of former President of India Shree Ramnath Kovind at Delhi University
  • Performed at “Kaka Nikki Times” on ETC Punjabi
  • Performed as a celebrity child on Alpha TV show “Assin haan kamal de”
  • Performed at “Harivallabh Sangeet Pratiyogita”
  • Performed all over India and Abroad with various artists like B Praak , Sunanda Sharma , Gurnazar, Jaani, Lisa Mishra , etc .
  • Worked as a guitar session player and as a music arranger on various songs released on various platforms like speed records and White hill music.

During the concert, Manik will be playing Raag Yaman along with Jod, Jhala and Alaap followed by Raag Desh and ending the show with dhun on Raag Bhairavi and will be accompanied by Dr. Mahendra Prasad Sharma on tabla.

Dr Mahendra Prasad Sharma (Tabla)

Dr. Mahendra Prasad Sharma was born in the holy city of Varanasi and was a favorite disciple of Pt Chhote Lal Mishra ji who is a well known Tabla Maestro of Banaras Gharana. He passed B.com from BHU, Varanasi, Sangeet Prabhakar and Sangeet Parveen (tabla) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahbad, M.A. (Tabla) from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Ph.d from Panjab University, Chandigarh and he is certified radio artist also. He is author of 2 books – How to play Tabla (English) & Avanadh Vadya: Siddhant Evam Madan Parampara (Hindi). He worked abroad as a Tabla teacher-cum-performer at Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Cooperation High Commission of India, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on deputation from the Panjab University, Chandigarh, India, through ICCR, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
