The Ciné-Concert is a show that combines the love for cinema with that of live music. Films shown on a giant screen are accompanied by musicians playing original compositions live on stage. It is a means of resuscitating silent film repertoires and inviting audiences to discover or rediscover cinematic classics, through a different lens.

Musicians Robert Piéchaud (pianist) and Stan de Nussac (multi-instrumentalist) put forth a proposal to deliver a series of concerts in India, with the support of the French Institute in India (IFI), the network of Alliances Françaises in India (AF India), Film Preservation Associates (FPA) and the National Film Archive of India (NFAI).

The silent films to be showcased include a varied selection of films by Dadasaheb Phalke, Baburao Painter, Georges Méliès, Alice Guy and Kranti Kanadé.

Robert Piéchaud, a versatile artist, trained under Claude Helffer, Gilles Harlé, Charles Bornstein, and Robert Piéchaud. He is an accomplished pianist and composer, with a focus on chamber music and vocal compositions. Passionate about silent cinema, he has performed in film-concerts at prestigious venues like the Louvre Auditorium and Cinémathèque Française. In 2011, he co-founded the Trio Trans-Atlantismes. His notable works include Métamorphoses, The River, Aelita, and Wittgenstein-Lieder, showcased at events like the Paris Autumn Festival. His artistic journey also led him to India, where he explored Hindustani music through the Bass Holograms project.

Stan de Nussac, a talented multi-instrumentalist, holds top honors in jazz saxophone and ethnomusicology. He collaborated with Maurice Béjart on ballets like Opera and composed for Sylvie Guillem. In theatre, he contributed to Laura Forti’s Nema Problema and performed in Épée de bois. Partnering with Robert Piéchaud, he enriches silent cinema experiences at venues like the Louvre Auditorium. Besides his performances, Stan passionately shares his expertise through teaching since 2015.
