PaintingThe British Deputy High Commission Chandigarh and DIR (Developing Indigenous Resources) Chandigarh have the pleasure to invite you to A PAINTING EXHIBITION on “What does Gandhi mean to me” to honour Gandhi’s Statue unveiling in London

British Deputy High Commission Chandigarh organised a painting-cum-drawing competition in Chandigarh to mark the unveiling of Mahatma Gandhis Statue at Britains Parliament square in London on 14 March 2015.

The competition was held at Developing Indigenous Resources (DIR) School with a Difference (a charity school) at Janta Colony, Chandigarh on 13 March 2015. Students in the age group of 8-16 took part, drawing paintings on the theme What does Gandhi mean to me?

The joint IMG_2033organiser Developing Indigenous Resources (DIR) is a non-profit charitable organisation, headed by Dr. Frederick Shaw, the organisation works with marginalised/underprivileged communities in Janta Colony on health, education and income generation. The organisation also runs a small community school in the area.

The paintings from this competition will now be exhibited at the Alliance Francaise Chandigarh on 20 April to showcase the talent and give these kids some sense of encouragement & recognition.
