Petit Pays (Small Country) – Exclusive Screening and Discussion

To celebrate the publication of Gaël Faye’s acclaimed novel Petit Pays (Small Country) in Hindi, The French Institute is please to organize an exclusive screening of the film Petit Pays (Small Country) by Eric Barbier.

The story takes you through a touching childhood, set during the ethnic conflict in Rwanda.

The drama follows the journey of Gabriel, aged 10, lives in a comfortable expat neighborhood in Burundi, his “small country”. Gabriel is a normal kid, happy and  carefree, who enjoys adventures with his friends and little sister. Then in 1993, tensions in neighboring Rwanda spill over, threatening his family and his innocence.

The best seller by the author has been translated in Hindi by Tara Press.

Gaël Faye was invited to the Jaipur Literature Festival in January 2020. During his stay in India, he spoke at the Lycée Français de Delhi about his history and the theme of romanced autobiography. He also led a slam workshop at IFI Jaipur with Indian students.

The movie will be screened on Livestorm by Institut Français Paris, in collaboration with the Alliances Françaises in India.
