24th June 2023, Alliance Française de Chandigarh will celebrate World Music Day in partnership with Chandigarh Tourism Departement. The event will take place at Plaza, Sector 17, Chandigarh, from 6 to 9 PM.
The goal of this event is to commemorate the essence of World Music Day and its values: cultural diversity, promoting the power of music to bring people together, and recognizing the role of music in promoting peace and dialogue among different communities.
In the heart of the city, come and celebrate music with local artists and 1 DJ from Bangalore. From rock to jazz to commercial music to techno, come and enjoy this artistic and convivial event, for young and old alike!

About the artists

DJ NITRO

Has been DJ’ing since 2015 and has played in venues in India, Nairobi (Kenya) and Zanzibar (Tanzania). He specializes in Techno but is an open format DJ. He’s passionate about bringing in innovative mix of different genres in a unique style of mixes at the spur of the moment.
Picture a space where dynamic beats, inntoxicating rythms and electrifying atmosphere all converge into an uparalleled sonic experience. Welcome to the realm of DJ Nitro, the euphonic alchemist !

Fankaar

From the humble music room of PEC, Fankaar emerged as a Chandigarh-based rock band, spreading their electrifying tunes to the world. Their journey started within the vibrant walls of their college, where music bound them together like an unbreakable bond. But even as the chapter of their college life drew to a close, Fankaar vowed to keep the flame of their passion alive amidst their bustling day-to-day routines.
Fankaar’s members, each with their unique quirks and musical talents, seamlessly blend their individual flavors to create an extraordinary sonic palette. With every performance, Fankaar unleashes a whirlwind of infectious beats, spine-tingling guitar riffs, and captivating stage presence that leaves audiences exhilarated and craving for more.

Dipanshu

Dipanshu Chaudhry is a singer songwriter from Chandigarh, he has been in the Indie music scene since quite a time and now a part of a Circus Troupe Band called SNEAKY PEAKY.
He has travelled and played with world musicians all across Europe and Asia and gathered his cultural/folk music knowledge that is a part of his current repertoire.
He plays instruments like Guitar, Harmonica, Saxophone, Ukulele and some little tribal instruments with vocal improvisation and touch of genres like Jazz, Blues, Soft Rock etc.

Brothers on Board

Brothers On Board is an instrumental hard rock band formed in Chandigarh, India in 2017. Band’s lineup comprises Frontman/Lead Guitarist: Mitesh Mynee, Rhythm Guitarist: Sahib Katyal, Bass Guitarist: Pragyan Sharma and Drummer: Rohin Mynee. Raw and heavily overdriven guitar amps, rumbling basslines synced with hard-hitting drums is what represents the classic rock tone of the band.

Social Strings

Social Strings is actually a 4-piece commercial Rock Band covering Bollywood Pop, Rock, Retro and some Western Pop/Rock numbers. For the World Music Festival ’23 we will be doing an exclusive Acoustic Duo set featuring both the vocalists with guitars.

History of World Music Day

Launched in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture with the aim of getting the five million French people who play a musical instrument out onto the streets, the Fête de la musique is traditionally celebrated on 21 June, mainly in the evening and into the following morning, all over the world.
Free of charge and open to all musicians, amateur and professional, the Fête de la musique is aimed at all audiences and showcases all musical genres.
